Ombre Powder Brows

Ombre powder brow technique involves shading the eyebrows by making fine, minute dots along the brow area using a single, sterile needle attached to an electronic tattoo device. It produces the look of shaded brows that is darker at the tails and lighter at the front, giving a gradient powdered effect.

The Beauty Of Ombre Powder Brows

Ombre powder brow technique has been around for decades but has evolved over the years. It is increasingly sought after because of the soft, powdery and fluffy effect it produces.

FAQ

Yes, it is relatively safe for most people.

There is no downtime associated with the procedure so you do not have to call off work. You may experience redness and swelling which, on average, should only last a couple hours at most.

Your skin may take 7-14 days after the procedure to fully heal.

Treatment day: Red and sore

Once the effects of the numbing cream wears off, you may feel sore around your brow area. It is also normal to see some redness around the area. You may also experience slight swelling, although this is a rare occurrence and should only last a couple of hours.

Day 1-7: Bolder brows

Initially, your brows will appear bolder than usual as they may darken during the healing process. Brows may also feel “tingly” or “tight” at this time.

Day 7-14: Itchy and flaky

Around 7-14 days, you may notice some flaking/shedding of the skin near the brow area. The skin underneath has now healed and very small “scabs” are starting to fall off the skin. Your brows may look uneven at times because of this. The pigment on the skin appears very light or faded. This is because there is still a thick layer of protective, opaque skin creating a veil over the pigment.

Typically, an ombre powder session involves the following process:

  • Consultation
  • Topical application of numbing cream
  • Brow pre-draw/shaping
  • Machine work
  • Photo taking

First touch up

Every new set of brows requires two sessions: the initial appointment and the first touch up. The first touch up is recommended to be 1 month after the initial appointment, when the brows have fully healed.

The first touch up essentially corrects any imperfections in the healed brows. It is hard to predict how your skin will retain the pigment and whether you will like your eyebrows when the healing process is over. If, for instance, you want darker brows, or they healed too light, you can request to add more pigment at the touch-up appointment.

It is highly recommended to do the first touch up in order to achieve the desired results (shape and color).

Annual touch up

After the first one, a touch up is recommended every 12 months. The purpose of the annual touch up is to freshen up the color, define/secure the shape and (optional) darken the brows.

Skin type

Generally, combination or oily skin needs more maintenance and touch ups. This is because oily skin experience higher skin regeneration and faster skin turnover. Hence pigment tends to fade quicker on this type of skin.

Aftercare procedure

Following the aftercare instructions is crucial to proper healing and therefore better healed results and retention.

Skincare routine

Active skincare with anti-aging properties, exfoliants (chemical or physical), AHA, retinols, glycolic, salicylic acids, etc. promote fading and therefore should be avoided around the brow area and the forehead area.

Lifestyle

Excessive sun exposure (sunbathing, tanning) and sweating (sports, laborious work, gym, etc) may promote fading. Some medication also affects colour longevity.

Touchup

Getting the required touchup within 3 months of the initial appointment extends pigment longevity. More pigment can be implanted into the brows without risk of oversaturation, giving them fresher look for longer duration.

If the bulb of your brows (front) is dark and blocky, or you want to change your brow shape but they are still visibly pigmented, then you might need to wait until they lighten before you get an ombre powder procedure.

Otherwise, you still can get this procedure done even if you have an existing brow embroidery.

However, if you’re still not sure, you can send a photo of your brows to 010-5510108 for further consultation.

It is best to take the photo with your face facing natural light and looking straight into the camera, so I can have a clearer picture of your brows.
